Tip of the Day - cmd Space

This tip is aimed just at new Mac users, as everyone else should already know this.

OS X has an incredibly powerful tool to help you gain quick access to all of those important applications, documents and other files on your Mac.

All you have to do is hit the following two keystrokes "cmd"+"space" this opens up the spotlight text area at the top left of your Mac.

So if you need to start using Safari just start typing Safari and just as you are typing "S" and the "a" the app should be visible under the text area just hit enter and the app will launch.

As you look down the list you can see Spotlight has highlighted some other results that come under the same criteria and you can see that spotlight can be used to search for anything on your mac.

So the next time you find yourself trying to use the dock to look for something, stop, hit cmd space to find it, soon enough you'll start using spotlight more and more, and you will be so much quicker. You will wonder how you ever used your Mac without it.
