Apple Music Festival: First Details

Festival season is drawing to a close, but there’s still Apple’s offering to enjoy. Previously named the ‘iTunes Festival’ in the past nine years, it is now called the Apple Music Festival to honour their recently released Apple Music, and will feature performances by some of the biggest names in music.

Returning once again to Camden’s Roundhouse, the festival will run for 10 nights. Tickets cannot be purchased, instead fans have the chance of winning them by entering the random draw via iTunes and Apple Music.

Here’s the first set of artists announced in the Apple Music Festival line-up:

Take That, 20th September

Formed in 1990, the group now perform as a threesome consisting of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen. They are famous for their hits Re-Light My Fire, How Deep Is Your Love, Back For Good and Shine.

One Direction, 22nd September

Popular boyband One Direction may have recently announced their extended hiatus/split, but they’ll still be around to perform in the Apple Music Festival before they go their own ways. Their most famous hits include Story Of My Life, Steal My Girl, Up All Night and What Makes You Beautiful.

The Weeknd, 23rd September

Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, began to gain recognition for his R&B hits after uploading his songs onto YouTube in 2010. Since then, the singer has released a bunch of catchy hits such as Can’t Feel My Face and Earned It.

The Chemical Brothers, 24th September

Since their beginning in 1989, The Chemical Brothers has encompassed an impressive discography, full of recognisable dance hits such as Galvanize, Hey Boy Hey Girl, Push The Button and Block Rockin’ Beats.

Disclosure, 25th September

Electronic dance duo Disclosure truly found their footing in the UK after their hit single Latch, featuring Sam Smith made it into the UK Singles Chart. Other singles include White Noise, Tenderly and You & Me.

Pharrell Williams, 26th September

Fashion designer, producer, rapper, singer and songwriter Pharrell Williams has had an impressive career so far. Recognised for his plethora of collaborative work with other artists as well as his own solo career, a few of his famous hits include Happy,  Blurred Lines, She Wants To Move and Get Lucky.

Florence & the Machine, 28th September

Formed in 2007, the band’s frontwoman Florence Welch has driven the band to success thanks in part to her powerful vocals. Familiar songs include Dog Days Are Over, You’ve Got The Love, Spectrum, Rabbit Heart and Hurricane Drunk.
