Trick or Treat? The Best Halloween Apps for iOS

Zombies, Run!

Get fit and have fun at the same time, just in time for Halloween! Zombies, Run is a recorded story series that reacts to your running. Plug in your headphones and become the hero in an ever-expanding set of missions that puts you right at the centre of your own zombie adventure story. Run to the blend of an audio zombie drama, with pace-matching songs from your very own playlist. It’s intense, but definitely helps you to have an incentive to continue your regular running sessions! On the plus side, there’s also an Apple Watch app, so you won’t need to have your phone in your hand to continue selecting anything in the app.

Crypt of the NecroDancer Pocket Edition

This award-winning rhythm game is an addictive game to dig out for Halloween. Beat up spooky enemies to the beat of the songs (by composer Danny Baranowsky), or select your own tracks from your iTunes collection.

The game puts players through a collection of randomly generatrd dungeons, as they fight to make their way through without dying. It also offers an Apple TV app, if you wish to get your friends and family into the creepy fun also.

The Walking Dead

Based on the hugely successful comic book and TV series, Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead is a story-telling point-and-click/walkthrough adventure story that has so far spawned two seasons. The third is on it’s way next month, so now’s the time to get stuck into the episodes available so far.

Both seasons follow young Clementine, a sweet young girl who has been thrust unwillingly into the heart of the zombie apocalypse. On her travels, she meets and loses friends, and slowly grows accustomed to her new life. It’s a fantastic story, and each episode is definitely worth a play.

Five Nights At Freddy’s

You might have seen the creepy plushie-style characters before, but Five Nights At Freddy’s really isn’t as cute and colourful as you think it is. In this series, players desperately try to save themselves from this collection of sinister characters. There’s plenty of jump-scares, so if you’re looking to be really spooked this Halloween, then this one is for you.

Resident Evil 4

Arguably one of the best Resident Evil titles to date, the fourth instalment places characters in the shoes of Leon S. Kennedy, an agent who has been sent to collect the kidnapped President of the United States’ daughter. Of course, things aren’t as plain sailing as you think. Leon arrives in a town over-run with zombie-like villagers, undead animals and sinister bad guys. It’s creepy, and incredibly intense. Load this up on your iPhone or iPad, and get blasting zombies on Halloween night!

Slender Man

The Slender Man has become synonymous with Halloween ghost stories. This urban legend focuses on an incredibly tall, faceless man with tentacle-like arms who is constantly after it’s victims. There’s a bunch of Slender games available, but the episodic game Slender Man is one of the scariest available on iOS. See how long you can stay alive as you explore the creepy on-screen surroundings whilst being pursued by this mysterious and equally terrifying Slender Man.
