Ghostbusters - Try The Apps!

“Who You Gonna Call?”

People are talking about Ghostbusters again, after yesterday’s release of the new all-female Ghostbusters. Set 30 years after the original film, the film centres on Erin, Abby, Jillian and Patty, who set out to save the Manhattan from an invasion of ghosts and a powerful demon known as Rowan.

The first and second films, released in 1984 and 1989 respectively, were both hugely successful, and still remain a beloved franchise to this day. The 2016 reboot aims to build on this well-established franchise, offering a fresh take whilst paying homage to what made the original films so great. Riding on the nostalgia of the original films with cameos from some of the original cast, only time will tell whether it is a worthy addition to the series or not…

Scheduled for a July 2016 release, get in the ‘spirit’ with this collection of Ghostbusters games that are available to play now on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Ghostbusters Pinball

Based on the first and second movies, Ghostbusters Pinball is divided into three levels representing the iconic settings found in the films - the city, rooftop and subway. Using the flippers, move the ball through the three levels, encounter Slimer and then cross the streams to defeat the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man! This app is free to download with in-app purchases also available.

Ghostbusters Puzzle Fighter

Popular series Puzzle Fighter expands to include a Ghostbusters version in their ever-expanding repertoire. Power up your proton pack as you match gems to help the ghostbusters bust ghosts. Featuring memorable faces from the original films - including a few familiar ghosts too, Puzzle Fighter is a fast-paced, addictive game that really plays on the Ghostbusters theme in a big way. Free to download, the app does offer some in-game purchases.

Ghostbusters The Other Side: Issue 1

Perhaps games aren’t your thing. That’s OK, you can get stuck into a book instead. Free to download, this app offers a 99 page comic book published by IDW. Issue 1 of ‘The Other Side’ sees the original Ghostbusters (Spengler, Stantz, Zeddemore and Venkman, in case you need a reminder) run afoul of a gang comprised of the spirits of some of America’s most legendary gangsters.

The app is pretty easy to use, allowing readers to tap and swipe to navigate through the pages. If you like this, additional issues (as well as the Ghostbusters manga) can be purchased by downloading the ‘UCLICK’ comic reader on the App store.

All three of these Apps can be downloaded via the App Store on your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices now.
