Mac OS Catalina

Catalina is the 18th MacOS software update Apple has released, this one will be available this Autumn. Now let's take a look into what we can expect to see.

Firstly, iTunes has always been a hub for your music, podcasts, and tv. Well, Apple plans to scrap that and give you Apple Music, Apple Podcasts and Apple TV all separate, dedicated apps allowing you to enjoy all your entertainment easier on your Mac.

Something that is extraordinary is now the ability to use your iPad alongside your Mac and Macbook. Catalina will allow users to use their iPad as a secondary display whether that be for editing, designing and creating or even mirror the screen for showing others. This is all possible with Sidecar and if you own an iPad with Apple Pencil it will feel seamless.

You can connect the two devices either wired or wirelessly. The only possible issues some people may face is that you need to ensure that both are devices are connected on the same iCloud and are supported as for example MacBook Pros before 2016 won’t be compatible. Some of the Apps that will be compatible with Sidecar are Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Photo, Cinema 4D, Maya, and ZBrush.

We also can see screen time coming to Mac and is the same as the current option on your iPhone device. It allows users to see how much they're using each day, monitor usage, schedule downtime, and set limits. Some other apps have got some updating including Notes, Photos, and Reminders and we've seen these in the beta for IOS 13 (which is also being released later this year)

Voice Control. This allows users to use their voice for everything from sending emails, messages, finding directions and controlling the music and generalling making Macs easier to use for everyone.
