The Best Point-and-Click Games on iOS

Whilst multi-player action and shooting games remain ever popular, it’s nice to occasionally relax a little and enjoy a slower paced game. Point-and-click games on are a perfect alternative. They’re often very story based, but they’ll get you using your brain, too. Solve puzzles, make decisions that often alter the game, and discover a story which unravels as you play. There’s several available on the App Store. Check out some here.

Samarost 3

If you’re looking for something a little weird and wonderful, then Samarost 3 is the one for you. Following on from the previous two games, players take control of a white hatted space gnome who uses his powers of the magic flute to travel across the cosmos in search of its mysterious origins. Teaming with beautiful artwork (reminiscent of Terry Gilliam’s stop-motion segments in Monty Python), and a beautiful soundtrack, this adventure game will definitely get you thinking.

Broken Sword

An episodic game, it’s well worth purchasing episode 1. Players will meet George Stobbart and Nico Collard, who are sent on a dangerous journey. Here, they’ll experience a multitude of locations across the globe, solve puzzles, uncover mysteries and slowly unravel the secret truths of the Knights Templar.

Machinarium

Made by the team behind the Samarost games, Machinarium puts players in the metal boots of Joset, the robot who has to save his girlfriend Berta from the Black Cap Brotherhood gang. Solve puzzles, point and click to discover hidden secrets, which is completed with a beautiful hand-drawn like landscape, which is in turn paired with a lovely soundtrack. It’s a pretty tricky game, but it’s pretty satisfying when you finally manage to crack a puzzle.

The Longest Journey

A cult-classic, The Longest Journey takes place in the parallel universes of magic-dominated Arcadia and industrial Stark. You play as April Ryan, a young woman who is capable of moving between both worlds. Her task is to flit between the two and ultimately restore the balance. This point-and-click adventure game allows players to interact with objects on the screen to solve puzzles and advance the story. It’s definitely worth a play!

The Walking Dead

Whilst both season 1 and 2 are available, The Walking Dead Season 1 is by far one of the most memorable point-and-click experience’s you’ll ever have. The Telltale Games series initially introduces us to Lee, a convict who was on his way to the prison when the zombie apocalypse officially arrived. Whilst evading zombies, Lee runs into Clementine, a sweet little girl who’s parents had gone out of town at the time. Left at home with her now undead babysitter, Clementine is in need of a hero, and this is where Lee saves the day.

Tense, touching, and totally heartbreaking, The Walking Dead comic and TV show fans will love this, but liking this series beforehand is definitely not needed.

Batman

Another from Telltale Games, their Batman game has only just been released. We’re currently on episode 2 of season 1. The series puts players directly into the shoes of both Bruce Wayne and Batman, allowing them to see just how hard it is to juggle both his vigilante night-life and his extravagant personal life. All of your decisions have some significance here, which may alter the events to come.

Batman fans will love this new way to experience Batman!
